According to Ayurveda, any impairment of the three Doshas, vata (air), and kapha (water) and pitta can lead to obstruction in the head leading to headaches. According to the Ayuvedic physicians, when the pain in the head intensifies the pitta dosha vitiates to a burninhg sensation in the head resulting in headaches. Individuals suffering from headaches may have symptoms such as nausea, and vomiting.
Traditional Ayurveda attributes headache to two factors---sensitive nervous system and impaired digestion. Improper diet causes the cells in the body to aggravate Pittas meaning fire leading to headaches. In this aggravated state, ama or waste materials stored leads to continuous headaches.
