The bedrock of ayurveda is on two theories i.e. panchamahabhootha theory and Tridosha theory. Ayurveda philosophy enunciates five basic elements of living matters like Prithvi (Earth), Jala (Water), Theja (Fire), Vayu (Air) and Akasha (Ether). Human body is made out of these five elements, collectively known as panchamahabootha. The physical functions of the body are totally governed by tiny biological units namely Vatha, Pitta and Kapha. These three doshas are the basic elements which influence the functions of the body. Ayurvedic treatment helps to restore the equilibrium of doshas.
